Job opening: CNN Atlanta

CNN has an immediate opening for a research librarian at its Atlanta headquarters.

The CNN Library functions as both a research center and video archive, and supports worldwide newsgathering and production for CNN networks and web sites, as well as other Turner companies. The librarian will focus primarily on providing video and information research on our reference desk to CNN news staff in a fast-paced environment. The librarian will also contribute to special research projects and work with our video archive collection through detailed indexing of footage selected for archiving.

Qualifications: Masters degree in Library or Information Science required. Research experience in a corporate or news library required. Proficiency in online search skills and experience using commercial databases such as Lexis-Nexis and Factiva are essential. Experience with spreadsheets, web development, and databases highly desirable. The ideal candidate will have excellent knowledge of current events and news personalities, and will be a highly motivated self-starter who is detail-oriented and adaptable to a changing work environment. Candidates should thrive in a highly charged, deadline-oriented atmosphere and be able to stay focused under pressure. Ability to work independently and creatively and to handle multiple tasks simultaneously a must. Effective written and verbal communication skills are a top priority.

Workload may sometimes require more than a 40 hour workweek. This position will work Tuesday-Saturday.
