Thanks for your mention of our fund to help journalists and all staff at The Times-Picayune in New Orleans. We thought you might want a bit more detail.

More than 180 famlies have registered for the Friends of the Times-Picayune relief fund. The people who lost their homes include senior reporters and editors as well as sports writers, copy editors, folks who work in advertising, marketing, many pressmen and back shop folks – everyone it takes to make a newspaper. They lived in St. Bernard, New Orleans East, Lakeview – across the spectrum. Their stories are heartbreaking. Yet, as you know, the paper continues to produce stellar journalism in the face of unspeakable personal hardship. They aren’t good at being victims, as you might image. They never imagined they’d be the ones in need of help.
