Temporary job, Chicago (2 years)

The Chicago Tribune has an immediate opening for a resident in its Research Center. This residency is a temporary two-year (but full-time) position based in our Chicago office. Primary duties for the resident will include: technical support of the Editorial intranet site, assisting with computer assisted reporting database work and other research projects as assigned.

Required: Master's degree in Library and Information Studies or equivalent; experience using research databases (LexisNexis, Factiva, Dialog, Autotrack, Accurint); experience with web content building (html, Dreamweaver, Contribute desirable) including familiarity with the server side of those applications and expertise working with SQL; Excel and Access skills; high level of accuracy and attention to detail; previous news or other corporate library experience a plus. Applicants must be comfortable working in a demanding news environment, quick thinkers and creative types that are also at home crunching numbers in spreadsheets and databases. Hours for this position will be primarily days but may include some weekend or evening work.
