The position of Research Editor is available at Florida's best newspaper.

The St. Petersburg Times (FL) is seeking a replacement to manage one of America's top news libraries.

Under our current structure, this editor directs the work of our research librarians and the staffers who archive our stories and photos.

The editor oversees a budget, negotiates with vendors and takes a lead role in news department technology.

The editor is part of the paper's senior editor corps and works closely with departments outside news. While this structure has served us well, we are taking this opportunity to re-examine it and explore other options. All ideas welcome.

We are seeking someone with an MLS, supervisory experience, and prior newsroom experience. Top research skills are essential, as is familiarity with major commercial databases. Exhibiting grace under pressure and a sense of humor are also minimum requirements. Knowledge of the area or of the state of Florida is a bonus as is experience as a trainer.
