Membership Directory and News Library News

Just a quick note about two additions to the Special Libraries Association News Division Web site:

The 2006 SLA News Division Membership Directory is now available to members for downloading, thanks to Membership Chair Alice Pepper, the members of the Membership Committee, and Newsbank, which provides support for the directory. Information about how to access the directory is available on the Web site.

The Spring 2006 News Library News, which went online Sunday, contains several articles about Baltimore (the site of the 2006 SLA Annual Conference), a profile of The Baltimore Sun, some info about XML feeds, a bit about Gary Price's talk at Simmons College, and the newsletter's regular features. I'd say "check it out," but since you can download it, you don't need to borrow it from a library. <rim tap>

2 Travel Articles about Baltimore

One of my SLA Boston Chapter colleagues posted links to two Boston Globe travel articles about Baltimore to the chapter discussion list. They give good suggestions about where to go, what to do, and where to eat, especially for literary types.

News Division Activities during the SLA 2006 Annual Conference

The Special Libraries Association News Division has lots of great and useful activities planned during the SLA 2006 Annual Conference. As in years past, the schedule will be in flux a bit going into the conference, but the details are there. Nowhere else can you find a better list of division activities, including committee meetings, than on the division's Web site. Links to conference presentations, etc., will be available through the Web site during and after the conference. Check the blog periodically, too, because some folks at the conference will be writing posts here, too. If I recall correctly, that means this blog is about three years old because Liz Donovan cranked it up in time for the 2003 Annual Conference and it's still going. Yay!

The News Division Suite, by the way, is in the Sheraton Inner Harbor Hotel. The exact location is still unknown.

Need a little cash to go? Don't forget that applications for the 2006 Hayden Fellowship are due Friday, May 6. The fellowship provides funds for professional development activities.
